October Days

“There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October. The sunshine is peculiarly genial; and in sheltered places, as on the side of a bank, or of a barn or house, one becomes acquainted and friendly with the sunshine.” -Nathanial Hawthorne

In October, America presents an autumn blaze landscape as it ushers in winter. A harvest of color with timeless charm. From coast to coast, the sun’s shift leaves a rich impression.

Geography and scenery hold our memories. Standing on the grounds of a familiar place can bring us back to ourselves and a feeling of nostalgia. A once-visited place of great delight may return the favor years later when we set foot on its grounds.

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows his handiwork.

One day speaks to another and one night gives knowledge to another. – Psalm 19:1,2

I urge you to seek out the landscape that holds memories this October. The place that brings you back to becoming ‘friendly with the sunshine.’  God Almighty has shown his handiwork to the ends of the world to have a pleasant effect on feelings. Savor the depth of autumn wherever you reside.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank you for creating, sustaining and redeeming all things, including the beauty of the earth. You are the fountain of all beauty.  This is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. Amen (from Psalm 27)
