“A good laugh is sunshine in the house.” -William Makepeace Thackeray, 1811-1863, English novelist and illustrator
And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:9
I like watching the local news weather forecast for the day. When I am in Arizona, we Phoenicians wait for cooler mornings and breathe a sigh of relief when the high is below 90 degrees. When I am in the Midwest, weather forecasters warn me of frost and freezing in the fall and thunderstorms rolling across the plains in the summer.
A simple finger push on my phone weather app instantly brings up all this information with radar depictions. Still, I prefer my local weather person talking into the camera with his or her personality abounding about clouds, sun, rain, humidity, barometric pressure, possible storms, and temperature. It brings the weather to “life.”
Much like the weather forecast, I like speaking with people about Jesus and hearing their stories about Scripture and life experiences. Bible apps are great for information, but face-to-face sharing helps me understand and connects me to the gospel–the good news that cannot be blown away in a storm.
Let someone get wind of your God story. It brings out the Son ☀️.
Prayer
Dear Creator God, I pray looking towards the sky and thank you for the sun, rain, warmth, and chill. Thank you for the precarious balance you hold in your all-powerful hands. At all times, help us to remember that even when life seems dark and stormy, you are in the boat with us, guiding us to safety. Amen
