Leader: Alleluia! He has risen,
People: He has risen indeed!
If you could time-travel to visit your family members from 1850, 1650, or even 750, imagine what it would have been like to celebrate Easter Sunday with them. The dress and mode of transportation would differ, but the worship of Christ remains the same. The Divine has acted. The work is accomplished. The tomb is empty.
Humanity’s response is the same as that of those who walked on the road to Emmaus. Eyes are opened and hearts burn.
“..and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen…” Luke 24:34
The joyous traditional Easter greeting affirming the resurrection of Christ, “He has risen,” echoes the disciples’ words in Luke 24, gathered together in Jerusalem. Two thousand years later it is with great joy that the hallelu-Yah is pronounced in step with believers from every generation.
Invite your ancestors and their faith friends to come alongside you to worship in your mind. Wouldn’t it be spectacular? Saying all together the Psalms, the prayers, and “The Lord has Risen!” Scoot over in your pew and make room, St. Augustine and his burning heart may want to squeeze in on the end. ❤️🔥
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, We pray that you be near to us as we celebrate Jesus’ unending victory over death, sin, and the enemy. Continue to guide us until we join in the unending celebration in heaven. Amen
