“With so much beauty in the world, why do so many people chose hate as the easiest emotion to feel?” -William West, ― William West, Evolution of a Young Man in Love
“..and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground— then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. Genesis 2:6,7
Divine grace came down like dew and watered the plants of God’s making.
Continuing His heavenly grace, our Creator waters the church with no ornate displays, just as He made man’s body of the trifling dust.
“Grace in the soul grows not of itself in nature’s soil, but is the work of God…”
(from Matthew Henry’s commentary on Genesis 2)
Through His Almighty power, we have the holy mist of grace streaming before us to inhale and grasp. Why do we gasp when grace’s love and transcendence occur? Because it is infinite and eternal, reaching backward and forward, while we hold it for a moment, we carry it forever.
The poured over mist penetrates the dust formed being, and the breathed-upon becomes the image of the Creator. We are the image bearer, and we are made to project the mist of the garden-the work of God.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father
We bear Your image, not as our own doing, but as Your gift of grace. Let us project the mist of Your garden—The peace that softens the hard soil of the world. May our lives reflect the work of Your hands.
As mist rises from the earth to meet the light,
May we rise to You in worship and trust. Amen
