“Where flowers bloom so does hope.” -Lady Bird Johnson
But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 2 Corinthians 4:7
God uses us, the Clay Pots. Consider the vessels God has used for thousands of years to accomplish his work. It is not the mighty and strong who have rescued the many, but the unlikely. Moses, the slow speaker, David, the youngest, Ruth, a foreign widow in a patriarchal society, and the 12 disciples were fishermen, zealots and tax collectors.
God’s aim is that his own power through the gospel be honored, not us.
If you feel average or below average in your ability to share the gospel treasure, you are closer to the truth than the self-sufficient person who focuses on their own accomplishments. You are valuable to God because you are created in His image. The smallest word about Christ is not wasted. Even a chipped pot can grow beautiful blooms.
Mr. and Ms. Clay Pot find people interesting; They recognize it is a beautiful pathway into hearts. God did not create humanity to be a decoration, but to contain Christ within.
Go and grow the Gospel, Mr. and Ms. Clay Pot!
Prayer:
But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand. Please show us which assignments belong to us; help us to focus on those and trust that you are working on the others. Amen (Is. 64:8 KJV)
