“A holy life will produce the deepest impression. Lighthouses blow no horn; they only shine.” -D.L. Moody
Friend Paul sends out a daily devotion. He chooses a passage of Scripture expounding in detail and ends with a short list of prayer requests. I have met Paul only once through a mutual friend. We connected in our love for the Lord. Since then, our correspondence has been through prayer and Scripture conversations. I consider him a close confidant in my life.
I have developed a “click and pray” habit with his devo. I know the regulars on the list by heart. A few weeks ago, there were days without a devotion in my inbox. Oh no!
Then it was explained. Paul was on vacation with intermittent wi-fi availability. I was thankful for his clarification and a return of my daily routine:
Prayers for a couple’s son, a baby to be born, cancer to be fought, and faith to be found, faith to be renewed. Each name lifted. Faces I do not know, but souls close to mine. Oh yes–and don’t forget Paul–he is battling cancer too.
If I miss a day, I can pray in reverse, God doesn’t mind.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Help me to light up someone’s world and leave a deep impression this week, bringing honor and glory to You. Amen
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. –Matthew 5:16
