Incognito

“If a man has not discovered something he will die for, he is not fit to live.” -Martin Luther King, Jr

“We may ignore, but we can nowhere evade, the presence of God. The world is crowded with Him. He walks everywhere incognito.”

–C.S. Lewis, Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer

God pushes into the crevices of life. Even when you may believe he is absent or you have pushed Him out completely, a faint of light shines in through a most unlikely source.

Every space is available to God.

Christians ideally invite the Holy One into life daily through prayer and lifestyle befitting serving the Creator of the universe. Yet, ideals can be thrown by the wayside before breakfast. He is there even though we have not made space to meet with Him because God’s Spirit dwells within us. We are not tabernacle-locked, and our artificial blockades do not bind him.

I have been praying fervently for someone for quite some time–years. I had been distressed by a seemingly busy signal from God. No answer, well, not my pre-selected answer. Now I realize there are glimpses of light in a response. Not as I have drawn out the answer, but the timing and the intricate way my vision for the acknowledgment is shifted by this incognito God who walks infallibly.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty,

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

You are always with me now and forever. Amen
