“The soul, which is spirit, can not dwell in dust; it is carried along to dwell in the blood.” -St Augustine
When we consider how our bodies are made, it becomes overwhelming to know all the complex components. As information technology advances, artificial intelligence attempts to mimic human thinking. How long will it be before humans can be manufactured?
God formed the body of man out of dust– the dust of the earth. Go ahead and imagine it– make a picture in your mind. God created man’s body from dust and breathed into it:
The spirit of life, the breath of life-ruah, the wind of life. And man became not a body, not a spirit, but a living soul. The presence of the Spirit adheres the body and soul together.
Body + Spirit = Living Soul
God is Spirit and imparts elements of the Spirit into us until we give it back to Him.
When Jesus died, he said, “…“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” …”
–Luke 23:46
We are living souls with sets of abilities, which, for this earthly life, have a body and a connection with the Spirit of God. God holds the life of every living thing together in His hand and Paul states, “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” -1 Thess 5:23
I believe scientists may have a hard time mimicking the “glue” God uses to create humanity.
Prayer:
Almighty Creator,
“…the words that I have spoken to you are spirit, and are life.” ( John 6) Every breath we take is a gift from you. May our living soul glorify you today and every day. Amen
