“There is no one insignificant in the purpose of God.” –Alistair Begg
The Bible is different from any other chapter book. Each book brings an important message. The Acts of the Apostles tells of the founding of the Christian Church and the spread of its message throughout the Roman Empire.
My imagination took hold as I flipped through the Book of Acts the other day. I thought, “Hmmm, this historical book is exciting, and it would make an exceptional short series for Netflix.”
There are exploits on every page and Luke, the meticulous writer, gives vivid details: a bloody suicide, people speaking in tongues with accusations of drunkenness, murder, baptisms by fire, shipwrecks, snake bites, gifted orators giving history, logical analysis along philosophical debate. I can envision the voice-over by Luke’s character because he was the gospel writer and author of Acts. I would cast him as the wise doctor in the series who is mentoring Theopholis, telling about the new church with the cast of many: Jesus, Peter, the Holy Spirit, Stephen, Paul, Cornelius, Barnabas, Lydia, Ananias, Philip, James and more. The Council at Jerusalem would be a thrilling episode and imagine the scenery-Jerusalem, Rome, Macedonia and the Greek Islands. If you were to play a part in the series, what role would you want to play?
What role are you playing today in the living series “Making Disciples of All Nations”?
