“Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much.” –Blaise Pascal (1623-1662), French mathematician, physicist, inventor, philosopher
When we work together with all creation as peacemakers, we welcome others to Christ. We are called to imitate Christ in our lives as a sign, an example of kingdom life.
As I was writing early in the morning (on the back porch at the farm), a hummingbird flew near me–about a foot away–and danced around for five to ten seconds. The tiny feathered friend brought joy, and its wings’ gentle hum was like words of peace in my presence. This bird spoke shalom.
Jesus called us to treat one another well, to love divinely, and to bring peace that passes understanding.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35
Review the past month and consider the words others have said that remain in your memory. Some phrases and observations stay with us. What has filled your spirit with love? Have you spoken “Hummingbird Words” to someone?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.” Romans 14:19 NIV
I lift up my heart to you
I set my mind on you
I fix my eyes on you
May my life speak Shalom
Let this linger in my memory today. Amen
