“Opinion has caused more trouble on this little earth than plagues or earthquakes.” -Voltaire 1694-1778, French writer

Have you ever experienced an earthquake?

There were two seismic shifts of the earth in Jerusalem during Holy Week.

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit…When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

-Matthew 27:50,54

And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone, and sat upon it. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

-Matthew 28:2,4 “

**Following the day of Pentecost, in Jerusalem, the assembled church received news of threats from Jewish leaders and prayed together. The place where they gathered ‘was shaken.’

**An earthquake not only released Paul and Silas from prison, but a jailer recognized the Lord’s hand and believed in Jesus Christ.

**The earthquake following the outpouring of the seventh bowl in Revelation is unprecedented in magnitude and destruction.

Earthquakes are prominent in the Bible. God controls everything he created.  Earth. Sky. Heaven. Life.

In his mercy The Lord Jesus Christ identified with man and became flesh. He became sin on our behalf and died on the cross so that we might be forgiven.

Christ Jesus destroyed death and has brought life – eternal life.

Stand on solid ground this week and give thanks to the Lord for shaking the Earth, the One who loves us and forgives us.
